The musical genius who brought you Messiah, Music for the Royal Fireworks and the Water Music, pulls out all the stops in this musically exhilarating masterpiece. Orlando is a great warrior in Charlemagne's army, who falls obsessively in love with Angelica, the Queen of Cathay. She in turn, is in love with the African prince, Medoro. Orlando's obsession drives him to madness, but he is prevented from causing absolute carnage by the Magician Zoroastro who is ever ready "with his best Endeavours to re-conduct in the Right Way, those who have been misguided from it by the Illusion of their Passions." Burn the Floor opens the season on September 29, 2010.
The 2010-11 Broadway Sacramento season at the Community Center Theater will include six shows never before presented in the region, the first time in the 22-year history of the series that every presentation will be a Sacramento premiere. The six-show season includes Disney's Broadway blockbuster "Mary Poppins", the tony Award-winning best musical, "In the Heights," the dance spectacular "Burn the Floor," the new Dolly Parton musical "9 to 5," Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" and "Cirque Dreams Holidaze."

 In the Heights
November 3-14, 2010
The Tony Award-winning best musical of 2008, also won the top awards for score and choreography. "In the Heights" is a journey into a vibrant Manhattan community - a place where the coffee is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. The new show about chasing dreams and finding ones true home takes place in Washington Heights, telling the next chapter in the story of the American dream.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze
December 29, 2010-January 2, 2011
Created and directed by Neil Golberg, "Cirque Dreams Holidaze" is an original new musical extravaganza filled with spectacle, imagination and whimsical dreams. Ornaments come to life as costumed characters who perform astonishing feats that celebrate the holiday season and showcase pageantry, ingenuity and breathtaking artistry. An international cast of acrobats, aerialists, singers, dancers and musicians fill the stage and the air, and dangle from a 24-foot tall magical tree. Because of its limited run (most Broadway Sacramento shows run 16 performances), "Cirque Dreams Holidaze" is an option to the season subscription package that ticket buyers won't want to miss.

The Drowsy Chaperone
September 10 - October 9, 2010
The Drowsy Chaperone pays homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age, examining the effect musicals have on the fans who adore them. The Man in Chair, a mousy, agoraphobic Broadway fanatic, seeking to cure his "non-specific sadness", listens to a recording of the fictional 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone . As he listens to this rare recording, he is transported into the musical. The characters appear in his dingy apartment, and it is transformed into a glorious Broadway set with seashell footlights, sparkling furniture, painted backdrops, and over the top costumes. (Roseville Theatrer)

Crimes of the Heart
September 24 - October 23, 2010
In Hazlehurst, Mississippi, three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Their troubles, grave and yet, somehow, hilarious, are highlighted by their priggish cousin, and by the awkward young lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail while helpless not to fall in love with her. In the end the play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future&151;but the telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended. (Tower Theater)

Deathtrap
November 5 - December 4, 2010
Seemingly comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a "dry" spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college-a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney's plan, which he devises with his wife's help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness, and with such an abundance of thrills and laughter, that audiences will be held enthralled until the final, startling moments of the play. The Vampyre
October 8 - November 14, 2010

He gains the confidence of Aubrey, a weak willed young man and through him, gains entrance to the stately home of Aubrey's aunt where his seductive skills tempt the most virtuous of young women there. "The Vampyre" transformed the vampire myth from the monster of folklore to the dark, sexual, and predatory creature still popular today!
